Eloise is the classic case of feminism without intersectionality. She means well, but she doesn’t realise her privilege shields her from the struggles most women face. Her constant judgment of other women for not rebelling is ironic, considering she’s only able to rebel because of her wealth. Honestly, I can’t wait to see her growth arc, because right now, she’s giving pick-me feminist energy.

I like how you highlight where her feminism fails to acknowledge how her position privileges her and where she falls into the trap of criticising other women who perhaps do not have those same privileges.

Thank you for reading. I'm surely she'll probably work through it in her season as most leads do

This was a great piece! It doesn’t come across as judgment all the time to me. I think Eloise is very young which is why she is sooo naive to her privilege. Like you said, as she grows I think we will see her soften up her perspective a bit. I have a bit of a soft spot for her character though because she seems very frustrated. So I’ll give her some grace. For her character, being in this environment probably feels very suffocating. She doesn’t have one friend that completely understands her. She is mad at the system and wants different things for her life. To be surrounded by the opposite all the time isn’t easy. But I think she will be more understanding of women that want different things and understand her privilege as she get older. Have you seen little women? She reminds me a bit of the main character Joe.

You really raised some valid points because I have noticed I a lot of hetero - pessimism these days. And women calling damn near anyone a pick me. I feel like some girls have gone to extremes with it. So I think it’s important to start having conversations about intersectionality. Because we are all allowed to want different thing. That’s the entire point of feminism! 💐
